How Do LINDOFLAMM Burners Work?
LINDOFLAMM burners use injector technology, which creates a Venturi effect to mix the two gases, compressed air or oxygen, and acetylene. By passing the incoming compressed air or oxygen through a restriction, the exact amount of the acetylene is constantly drawn into the air flow. This makes our patented LINDOFLAMM flame solutions an extremely precise, safe choice.
Why Use Acetylene for Flame Treatment?
Our innovative LINDOFLAMM burners capitalize on the powerful heat delivery properties of acetylene (C2H2). Of all fuel gases, acetylene produces the highest flame temperatures (up to 3160°C) for rapid and concentrated heating. The unique temperature distribution in an acetylene flame means that most of the energy is contained within the primary flame cone (also known as the inner cone), allowing for precise heating. In addition, acetylene has the highest flame propagation rate, enabling higher thermal efficiency.
It is also easier to set an accurate, consistent flame condition with acetylene. It uses less oxygen than LPG fuel gases and produces less carbon dioxide and water vapor. The low level of moisture produced makes acetylene very useful for low-level metal preheating applications before welding, especially in the fabrication of high-strength steels.
The precise focus of the acetylene flame also makes it highly suitable for heating a small area of metal quickly - ideal for applications such as bending and hardening selective areas. Even when used with air, acetylene produces a high-temperature flame with a very sharp focus. This makes it suitable for applications such as heating in automatic brazing systems.

LINDOFLAMM® Manual Burners
Our LINDOFLAMM portfolio of manual burners supports a broad range of flame heating applications, including flame straightening, flame hardening, hot forming, preheating prior to welding and postweld heat treatment. The flame is used for melting purposes in flame brazing and for fusing purposes in the case of flame-sprayed coatings.
LINDOFLAMM burners run on acetylene as the fuel gas. This can be mixed with oxygen for high flame temperatures or with compressed air for mild, intense heat input with a lower risk of backfiring.
LINDOFLAMM® Automated Burners
Our LINDOFLAMM special burners are available with self-igniting nozzles using acetylene and compressed air to support partially and fully automated flame heating processes.
