Highlight: Low-pressure Carburizing
Low-pressure carburizing (LPC) furnaces use process temperatures of up to 1070°C to significantly accelerate process times. LPC can be combined with high-pressure gas quenching to reduce distortion. The right quenching method offers significant improvements to microstructure properties and component hardness relative to oil quenching, for instance.
The success of this heat treatment process hinges on the right protective gas and supply mode. We can provide all the protective and process gases you need along with an end-to-end supply solution, safety training and gas supply management services.
Our process gases for low-pressure carburizing
- Acetylene as the carbon source and carburizing medium
- Helium and helium mixes as quenching medium and for regeneration of catalysts in the helium recycling system
- Nitrogen as protective gas while the chamber is heating up and as quenching medium
- Hydrogen as process and injected gas and as quenching medium
