Developed for Consistent Results  

Many variables affect the quality of the final part in PBF-LB printing. These include the melting behavior of the powder, which can also impact the speed at which the part is produced and the resulting fumes and by-products. Fumes, metal vapors and spatter, for instance, can compromise reproducibility by disturbing the laser beam. A disturbed laser beam will not provide the energy required to reliably join the powder particles, increasing the risk of print defects. In addition, by-products like vapor condensation and spatter can deposit on the surface of parts printed in close proximity and increase the need for post-processing.

Argon can help contain this surface redeposition process. The ADDvance Laser230 process gas combines argon with helium to take PBF-LB dependability and reproducibility to the next level. It reduces particle redeposition and porosity and the resulting rework efforts, also mitigating fume formation and accelerating cycle times. It is ideal for additive manufacturing of lattice structures made from titanium, nickel, copper and aluminum alloys (such as Ti64, alloy 718 and AlSi10Mg).
