Leakages can be a big problem for modified atmosphere production lines that run 24/7. They can result from poor sealing or physical damage. However, food processors, producers and packaging companies cannot afford downtime, customer complaints or product recalls. Many manufacturers test for leaks on a random basis, which means that the entire batch needs to be repackaged or disposed of if a leak is found.
We have developed an innovative, patented solution to solve the leak detection challenge. MAPAX® LD is an extremely accurate, reliable technology, providing high-speed and non-destructive in-line leak detection for the food and non-food industry. MAPAX LD provides the fastest individual in-line check today on the leak detection market
How does it work?
MAPAX® LD works by adding food-grade hydrogen to the modified atmosphere gas mixture at the packaging sealing stage. Up to four percent hydrogen can be added without any impact on the foodstuff. The MAPAX® LD sensor activates a visual alarm if it detects hydrogen, allowing operators to remove the defective item from the production line with minimal interruption to the process flow. MAPAX® LD also allows operators to identify faulty settings on a machine if, for example, several leaks are found consecutively.
