The URTF furnace concept is the most reliable and safest technology in handling contaminated scraps. Based on the dry salt method of melting aluminum, the URTF offers substantial benefits over rotary salt furnaces. An oxyfuel burner generates sufficient heat to quickly melt the dross and scrap. In combination with WASTOX® oxygen lancing CO and VOC (volatile organic compounds) are directly oxidised and the energy formed replaces fossile fuels. Molten aluminum is tapped directly from the furnace while waste products are dumped by tilting. The ability to tilt the furnace compresses production cycles by saving valuable time normally spent charging, tapping and cleaning. Highest engineering standards ensure full process control with lowest manual operation.
Benefits of URTF with oxyfuel and WASTOX® oxygen lancing:
* Extreme high productivity
* Improved recovery yield
* Use of cheaper raw materials
* Reduced fuel consumption
* Reduced salt and residue disposal costs
The Universal Rotary Tiltable Furnace (URTF) was developed to meet the challenges in aluminium recycling. Linde Gas joined forces with Hertwich Engineering SMS Group and CORUS Aluminium Voerde to leverage their core competencies in equipment and environmentally sound aluminum recovery. |
