| Mineralisation of drinking water requires an increase of the Ca+-concentration. This is achieved by adding lime milk. As Ca+-ions do not dissolve in water without a respective amount of hydrocarbonates or carbonates, they have to be provided by additional carbon dioxide.
Furthermore, the correct lime/carbon dioxide balance has to be adjusted again.
Once applying carbon dioxide, adjustment of the desired pH value can be achieved by a very accurate injection of carbon dioxide.
Carbon dioxide for mineralisation of drinking water usually applies for:
- Providing a respective amount of hydrocarbonates or carbonates to dissolve Ca+-ions of lime milk.
- Readjust the lime/carbon dioxide balance.
The SOLVOCARB® process injects carbon dioxide into water:
- SOLVOCARB®-D: Carbon dioxide injection with a spherical head nozzle.
- SOLVOCARB®-R: Carbon dioxide injection with reactors.
Advantages of applying carbon dioxide:
- Carbon dioxide is applied for both dissolving Calcium-ions and readjustment of the lime/carbon dioxide balance.
- Very accurate adjustment of the desired pH value for the lime/carbon dioxide balance
- Carbon dioxide is a natural water compound
- Improved taste of the drinking water
