Here at Linde, we have been working on the development and delivery of O2e technologies for SRUs for over 25 years. Through our SURE® oxygen enrichment portfolio, we cover the full spectrum from low to high end to meet all application and productivity needs during maintenance, modification and greenfield projects.
With increasing O2e level furnace temperature increases. Accordingly limitations arise which in essence are due to temperature sensitivity of installed equipment like burner metallurgy and furnace refractory. Due to these limitations the whole range of O2e can only be covered by applying three different technologies from low- to high level oxygen enrichment. Above the O2 content level of 28% our custom SURE burner is needed.

SURE burner technology
Designed as a mixed-tip burner, SURE solves the safety challenges associated with pre-mixed burners, which can cause flashback during turndown. Using CFD modelling, we tailor every burner to the acid gas feed composition, oxygen enrichment level and furnace geometry of each project. CFD modelling ensures that the temperature is high enough to ensure effective contaminant destruction while avoiding high-temperature damage to the refractory as a result of adding oxygen. SURE burners can be easily installed with minimal disruption to operations.
For enrichment levels above 45% O2, our SURE double combustion process overcomes the temperature limitations of single furnace operation by splitting the heat release into two separate reactors with cooling in between. This SURE double combustion process is currently the only available technology that provides full capability at up to 100% oxygen – in an uncomplicated process that is easy to install, operate and maintain.
