The world’s largest air fractionators

n 2000, the four largest air fractionators in the world entered operation in a factory that Linde built in the Gulf of Mexico. The plant provides nitrogen for the oil extraction process in the Cantarell Oil fields of the national Petroleos Mexicanos Coportivo (Pemex).

The largest natural gas liquefaction plant in Europe

Commissioned by the Norwegian oil and gas group Statoil ASA we have built the largest natural gas liquefaction plant in Europe on the island of Melkøya off Hammerfest. The plant came into operation in 2008 and has a production capacity of 4.3 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per annum from the Barents Sea.

Steam reformer

Steam reformer are used to reform light hydrocarbons, such as natural gas, using steam in a cracking furnace. This produces a gas mixture containing hydrogen, which is used for chemical syntheses and to obtain hydrogen.

The future of mobility is green – and hydrogen has a key role to play here. In conjunction with fuel cells, it has the potential to make both private and public transport more environmentally sound. Fuel-cell vehicles are already part of the public transport infrastructure in California. Linde has built two H₂ fuelling stations for bus operator AC Transit in Oakland and Emeryville.

World's largest gas-to-liquids facility, Qatar

The world's largest gas-to-liquids facility went on stream in 2011 in the State of Qatar. At full capacity, it produces 140,000 barrels of liquid hydrocarbons and 120,000 barrels of condensate, liquid petroleum gas and ethane per day. Eight large air separation plants built by Linde supply the facility with the oxygen it needs - around 860,000 cubic metres per hour.

Stavanger LNG facility Norway

Since May 2011, Linde has been supplying the entire Baltic Sea region with liquefied natural gas from its Nynäshamn terminal in southern Sweden. The gas is liquefied at Linde's Norway LNG facility and shipped to the terminal in storage tanks. Here it is stored for onward transport in a tank capable of holding up to 20,000 cubic metres of LNG - in other words, around twelve million cubic metres of gas.
