The Shell Eco-Marathon is held in three different locations around the world every year – one in Asia, one in the Americas and one in Europe. Students are challenged to design, build and drive the world’s most fuel-efficient car. In total, 4500 students in 403 teams will compete against each other this year, powering their cars with everything from hydrogen to diesel and ethanol. The big question is: What car will prove to be the most energy-efficient and sustainable in 2018? And what will it run on?
The Shell Eco-Marathon will take place in Singapore (8 – 11 March), Sonoma in California (19 – 22 April) and London (5 – 8 July) this year. The car that travels the furthest on the equivalent of one litre of fuel will determine the winning team.
The Shell Eco-Marathon is flanked by the Make the Future Festival, an interactive, entertaining event that encourages young people to think about the energy challenge. Linde will be hosting a booth at the festival, showcasing its hydrogen vision and technologies, and engaging with young visitors. Guests to the Linde booth will have a chance to discover what virtual reality has to do with hydrogen. Drop by to find out more!
Linde is looking forward to the Shell Eco-Marathon and wishes all of its hydrogen teams the best of luck in this exciting competition!
