Energised Fracturing – maximizing yield, minimizing produce water
CO2 fracturing is one of the most effective and cleanest approaches available today to increase oil and gas production. It is even suited to unconventional sources like shale, tight sand formations and coalbed methane. N2 is an effective alternative to CO2 in many situations, especially for fracturing shallower wells.
Injected into gas and oil wells, energised solutions enhance hydrocarbon production rates and yields. Fracturing treatments energised with CO2 or N2 maximize long-term production, minimise fomation damage, reduce water usage and lower overall costs.
Nitrogen and carbon dioxide play a central role in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). With this procedure, nitrogen (N2) or carbon dioxide (CO2) are pumped underground at high pressure. The gas injected increases the pressure in underperforming oil wells so that fossil resources can be recovered more easily. This significantly improves yields. The world's largest EOR project using nitrogen, led by PEMEX, Mexico's largest oil company, relies on Linde as the primary nitrogen supplier.

Energised Huff and Puff – increased yield with single well stimulation
Since the early 1990s, Linde has deployed HnP technology to inject carbon dioxide (CO2) into depleted wells to incrementally increase oil production. Less costly than refracturing, Huff and Puff provides the energy to give hydrocarbons in low-pressure zones the necessary lift to get them flowing to the wellbore.
